Author / Artist: S. Rouzbeh

What language does execution speak? ‘The news ends in two words, but its consequences continue.’ ‘Language cannot restore a life that has been lost, but it can prevent the erasure of the person and of responsibility.’ Four central words: execution, life, suffering, responsibility. Marking 10 October, World Day Against the Death Penalty.

An eye bearing the UN emblem watches a gallows; Iran's outline hangs from a noose above a globe, with Persian text marking 10 October.
